A Rant you can('t) ignore!

<pointless rant>
I don't understand people. I'm convinced on that. It seems every time I think I know what someone is going to do or why someone did something, I am wrong. It bothers me. Not a lot of people understand people either, so I know I'm not alone.

I mainly try to understrand why people do things. It intruiges me to see if I can predict what they are going to do, as, if I'm right, it just shows that I really understand them well. Recently, however, I've been wrong, quite a bit.

Motivation is huge, both in literature and in life. If one can understand a person's motivation, one can learn endless ammounts about said person. In fact, motivation is the way we understand literary characters. If there were no motivation, nothing would ever be done. Thusly, I do my best to try to figure a person's motivation, and choose my course of action based on their motivation.
Of course, this plan falls out if I cannot figure out one's motivation.
This seems to be happening more and more as the years go on.

I'm not saying I'm getting dumber or losing my skill, but that it is getting considerably harder to deterimne why people do things. Honestly, some people's choices just confound me. I speak of two people in particular, neither of whom seem to do things logically. I don't mean to insult either of them, they just seem to do things that I wouldn't expect them to, quite frankly because I believe them to be smarter than that.
Of course, they aren't the only ones I don't understand, just the ones that I seemingly always get wrong. I get quite a few other people wrong, including some of my best friends. That, I suppose, is my fault, because perhaps I don't know them as well as I should. Then again, I don't truly understand myself either. And that is as much a problem as anything else.

I make choices based on others motivation, or at least I try to. That being said, I must understand them and their motivation, which is hard when I don't truly understand myself or my motivation. All I really know is that I doubt any of you understand me, but hopefully you understand yourself. If you do, then you are better than I.

However, in saying that, a question comes to mind (though I don't know why it does).
Does our life matter? Does it, in the long run, make a difference?

The answer is yes, it does. Just not on the level you may think. You impact your community, don't you? Or your friends? Maybe even your entire state. Some of us may even affect the country (or another one) or even the world (however doubtful it may be). However, that isn't the answer that anyone cares about, now is it. Everyone always wants to know if our life has any bearing in the eyes of the universe. Wanna know what I think? Well, if you said yes (which I doubt) tdb, because I'm betting most of you said no (fuck you). If you want to know, read HHGttG (or post 34 on NG).
